Welcome to SimBasic - a community legacy!

What happened next? Find out in the Greench Farm legacy!

4 couples stranded and founded a new community on Maccaroni Island. Currently the 3rd generation is about to start new families! This is a Sims3 community legacy that has been updated frequently for a full year, and contains about 100 chapters! Late July 2012 it came to an end and a new spin-off legacy focusing on just one of these households will bring the story forward, starting August 15, 2012.

The very first post is here, or use the Blog Archive to look back. Posts describing the project are tagged *. Please see the interactive map for household bios and family trees. Comments are welcome both here on the blog and on the SimBasic thread at the thesims3 forum. Even if there won't be more updates, I will still read your commnts.

Find all my stories and Sims projects gathered at my blog, Simmerville's Sims :)

I hope you will enjoy the read! :-)

Week 8 Day 4: Health Care

Yvonne Yea-Low's thriving lime tree garden, is among the Yea-Low main family's major income sources. Hardly any other household grows the lime fruit. These limes are very special to Yvonne, but her health has not been the best lately, and she realizes that she can not keep tending this part of their garden.

Dorothy and Alex Yea-Low also resides in this eastern region. They are the only household in Sunrise Valley, and this far it has been a little lonely. But now they had a son, Reynar, and days will be busy like never before. Alex works as an Inventor, spending much of the day at the Warehouse. Dorothy is waiting for the new Health Care center to be built, as she was promised to be in charge for it.

Little Reynar got Dorothy's red skin - it's a little strange how the Redwards' DNA seems to win again. Dorothy's older brother and Alex' sister, Randal and Corinne, have 2 children by now (Yamir and Rosanne), and both got the Redward family's red skin. In fact I was hoping that the Yea-Low family's skin would be passed on to at least some children, but this far there's actually none! At the Greench Farm there are two kids, and Greench DNA seems to win  over Blumington DNA. Maybe Maccaroni Island will end up with only a red and green population? Of course, it's way too early to tell...

Then Dorothy's mother-in-law, Yvonne Yea-Low, was on the phone; The Health Care center was already done!

The Health Care center will be their future hospital. This far it's quite small, but still one of the largest community builds on the island. Dorothy is the only person who will work there, in fact she is now signed up for the Medical career. The center is located on 5 Yvonne Drive.

There are no known diseases in the island yet, which is a bit strange in fact, but there will obviously be health challenges in the future...

A stairway leading down to the cellar, yes. Not much down there, but a cold storage room intended for storing medicines and various remedies and herbs.

(There is actually a full sized hospital down there, but we will pretend there is just a storage room, okay? :-) )

Suddenly Yvonne felt a little dizzy, she had to lay down for a moment. It was the perfect occasion to test the lounger behind the divider board, a spot intended for patients needing to relax between examination and leaving the building. We will never know if Yvonne just acted in order to test Dorothy's nursing qualities...

Over at 3 Redward Heights there's lots of news! Jess recently moved in, and Constance found that Cairo was female, and even expecting puppies. Yesterday Jess and Constance got married, they decided to take Rita's maiden name, Hamming, because there are already two Redward households in the region. In indexes and such they will be listed as Constance R. Hamming and Jess G. Hamming, where R and G is a reference to their previous last names.

Today Cairo gave birth to two very sweet puppies! They are both girls, and were named Vox and Muffy.

The puppies got partly different colours than Cairo and Kia, it might be easier to see when the puppies grow up. They would not allow Constance to pick them up, even if she played and talked with them for nearly a full day.

Over at the Warehouse, Roger Redward was about to proceed his plans. He had brought Rita to witness everything, but of course she did not know it. When inventors and sculptors use the Warehouse facilities, they place a §50 object in the shed as a payment to the community. Although the Warehouse is community owned, Roger has been picking up those items, and made anything he could to make Joe Hawk seem guilty.

Long ago the toddler Agnes was found in Joe Hawk's shed, but Yvonne had realized that Joe Hawk only saved Agnes from the wild dogs, not intending to harm her in any way. She thought the cave man was a quite reliable person.

Back at 9 Yea-Low Ring Agnes and Beetle discussed how Agnes had been treated by her mom, Yvonne, a few nights ago. Agnes had walked up north, and her mom had hysterically grounded her.

Beetle is Agnes' invisible friend. Others see him as a doll, and they think Agnes is rather insane when communicating or playing with him.

Late at night, Yvonne could not rest. She did not hear the voices, but she could not stop thinking about them. She feared something was coming up soon that related to the small, black beasts that she set free up north many years ago. Agnes had been near Maccaroni Mine the other night, and that was about where Yvonne set them free. Yvonne had also found black creatures near the house lately, but she felt they were connected to the north.

While it felt wasted, she kept looking... If she would find them, she would kill them with her shoe! Or cane! Or both! Every single one of them!

She was in no hurry, she could wait! Sooner or later one of them would show!

Oh oh... looks like the first of the 8 settlers just died? Was it natural, or were any black creatures involved?

To be continued in 2 days!

Week 8 Day 2 - Still cursed

Today is the wedding of Dorothy Redward and Alex Yea-Low. They are both fresh young adults. They got engaged yesterday, after being dating for quite some time. They didn't want a huge event, so the wedding will be quite quick & casual. I see that in the future, most weddings won't even be pictured.

This morning, Yvonne Yea-Low was outside the house at 9 Yea-Low Ring, when she thought she saw something moving in the grass. She walked closer, and eeek, wasn't that one of those black beetles!? The evil creatures she found on the Norther Beach of the little island, brought to Maccaroni, and eventually set free up north, not far from the mine? She felt the shiver, she didn't like to see this thing at all, this close to their home!

When she turned, there was 3 more near the bathroom door! Were they invading the island? This couldn't possibly be the same beetle she set free up north?

Over at 5 Redward Heights, Christopher and Bella juast arrived the house of Christopher's parents. Rita was in there, probably Roger, too. It was time to face the hard facts! Yesterday Bella told Christopher that she could not see their future unless he talked to his parents.

The door was opened by Rita Redward. While Christopher knew he had nothing to lose, his mom looked rather surprised, but didn't take long to catch up.

Rita and Roger had previously instructed their run-away son to stay away from the Blumingtons. Unsuccessfully, it seemed.

Poor guy. I just realized he got way less than Joe Hawk!!!

So, Bella and Christopher left. They didn't want to stay anyway.

Alex Yea-Low built a sweet little home at 1 Sunrise Valley. It's located in the eastern region, not far from the bridge. Dorothy moved in with him this morning, and in a few hours their wedding will be on.

They made it clear that they wanted the guests to wear casual attire, but the main persons were of course a little more formal....

First it was shocking to see Alex' sister, Agnes, bhuu'ing at the bride and groom, but to her defense it might just have been that they were not dressed according to the invitation. Any way, Agnes could of course just be very weird. After all it was her very first wedding party.

The following party was - well, a bit lame. Dorothy found herself surrounded by weird actions. Her twin sister Constance suddenly gave flowers to Alex' dad, elderly Yespar Yea-Low, and her brother Randal tried to attack himself, unsuccessfully. Also Alex seems to be hoping the party would soon be over...

There was no food serving, and the new house doesn't really offer lots of activities either. Everyone understood that the wedding was over as soon as they had exchanged the rings. Dorothy had a chat with her mother-in-law, Yvonne.

That's right, all the Yea-Low children are in need of glasses. But they have to manage without.

Rita Redward thought it was a terrible idea to end the party just like that. She invited anyone who felt like some more partying, to join her at Redward Heights. Dorothy and Alex didn't really want that, but what can you do when you are in the center of the event? A handful of the guests joined, too.

Yesterday, Constance had invited Jess Greench to stop by after the wedding. They whispered to keep a low profile...

Don't be surprised, Constance! It might even be a good thing - and you do own the neighbouring lot!

Roger Redward surely had some business to take care of. He had walked up to the Warehouse, but the fisherman son, Albert Blumington, was in the area. Roger hid behind the building, waiting. There... the boy walked over to the shed to place a something valued §50, and left. That something was the pay for using the Warehouse facilities for one day. Roger was somehow in charge of this place, he had this brilliant idea...

... he made sure that nobody saw him, then walked over to the shed. He picked up the items, instead of handing them to the community, he would bring them home or even selling them for money at the Consignment store. But first...

... Roger called Joe Hawk. How convenient would it be if someone saw Joe Hawk outside the Warehouse at the time these items were removed?

Roger had to smile, tomorrow he could arrange it even wiser, by also inviting someone over to actually see Joe Hawk lurking in the area.

It was late, and Yvonne was rightfully grounding Agnes.

Yvonne felt she might have overreacted a little. She tried to calm down, but was about to explode.

Yvonne had been dealing with this for a long time. Lately, she tried to forget about the creatures, the voice, and how she walked up north in trance back when she was pregnant with Agnes. Now she even understood, "Hard to let go... belly belly". Or was it all just imagination? This all might look a bit weird, but all along Yvonne had hoped that Agnes should not be involved. Now proven wrong.

More in 2 more days!

Note: If you think Yvonne's last actions were staged, you are wrong! It was rather shocking to see a mom banging on her daughter with her cane, but it obviously can happen on free will.
