Welcome to SimBasic - a community legacy!
What happened next? Find out in the Greench Farm legacy!
4 couples stranded and founded a new community on Maccaroni Island. Currently the 3rd generation is about to start new families! This is a Sims3 community legacy that has been updated frequently for a full year, and contains about 100 chapters! Late July 2012 it came to an end and a new spin-off legacy focusing on just one of these households will bring the story forward, starting August 15, 2012.
The very first post is here, or use the Blog Archive to look back. Posts describing the project are tagged *. Please see the interactive map for household bios and family trees. Comments are welcome both here on the blog and on the SimBasic thread at the thesims3 forum. Even if there won't be more updates, I will still read your commnts.
Find all my stories and Sims projects gathered at my blog, Simmerville's Sims :)
I hope you will enjoy the read! :-)

#8 : Heritage
[Revised on Week 10 Day 1]
Possessions are officially transferred from Possessor(s) to Heir(s) on the day when the Possessor dies. Any items that is handed out in advance must be registered and will be taken into the final heiritage.
Possessor:
Possessor is the one to pass on values to the heirs.
The heirloom:
Heirloom is sum of all possessions including cash, net worth of land and buildings, accounts, investments, claims and businesses.
7 simdays after a marriage the two spouses will own 50% each of their total possessions, unless anything else was stated at the wedding day.
If owning 50% the widowed spouse must report the 50% possessions as debts to Heirs.
A Heir can require to get 50% of their claim from the widowed spouse at any time, but must then (if needed) provide the widowed spouse with a place to live.
If heritage is proceeded before the 7th simday, sum of values brought into the household by the Possessor will indicate the percentage value of Possessor's heirloom to Heirs.
Heirs:
Heirloom value is to be equally shared by all Heirs. Possessor can give values of maximum 50% of the total possessions according to a testament.
The possessor and/or heirs can decide what item shall be inherited by what heir. If there are no such decisions in a testament, the oldest heir or the heir who inherits the biggest value will choose possessions first.
Heirs rank as follows:
1. CHILDREN: All children of Possessor. Includes children born outside of marriage.
2. SIBLINGS: If no children, all sisters and brothers of Possessor.
3. PARENTS: If no children nor siblings, both parents of Possessor.
4. OTHERS: If non of the above, according to written testament or the Hood.
A Sim must be alive or have alive heirs in order to be considered a Heir.
If adoption, children/siblings/parents count as real born relatives only if the adoption was registered before death of Possessor.
Widowed spouse/partner or related household member younger than teen has the right to stay with the main household for 7 simdays or until reaching teenhood without being charged by the household.
Any disagreement to a heritage must be raised within 7 simdays.
