Welcome to SimBasic - a community legacy!

What happened next? Find out in the Greench Farm legacy!

4 couples stranded and founded a new community on Maccaroni Island. Currently the 3rd generation is about to start new families! This is a Sims3 community legacy that has been updated frequently for a full year, and contains about 100 chapters! Late July 2012 it came to an end and a new spin-off legacy focusing on just one of these households will bring the story forward, starting August 15, 2012.

The very first post is here, or use the Blog Archive to look back. Posts describing the project are tagged *. Please see the interactive map for household bios and family trees. Comments are welcome both here on the blog and on the SimBasic thread at the thesims3 forum. Even if there won't be more updates, I will still read your commnts.

Find all my stories and Sims projects gathered at my blog, Simmerville's Sims :)

I hope you will enjoy the read! :-)

Week 13 Day 7: Second thought (1 of 2)

What a wonderful morning! Last night the Black household got surprise visitors - the massive firework explosion had been witnessed from a long distance, and a ship in the area had been redirected to check out the circumstances. Now the captain and 3 of his crew had arrived the northern region of Maccaroni Island! Let's hope their intentions are all good!

At 4 Black Heights everyone were still in shock, as the two teenage daughters, Bonita and Carla, rushed off to spread the news. First they ran down to the Blumington Bridge and Bolan River, which separates the northern region from Sunrise Valley. Bonita made a quick stop at the Hedgewall house, and while she continued up the hill to Greench Farm, Carla ran up to the Yea-Low home, and Yoseph Hedgewall saddled Moose to ride over to the western region which is quite a distance.

At 9 Yea-Low Ring nobody were awake yet. Reynar and Graica had a busy night taking care of their crying baby girl, Dorance. It was still very early.

Yoseph couldn't help shouting out the good news as he rode through the central village, although he knew very well that nobody lived there.

He finally arrived at Redward Heights.

Bonita reached Greench Farm, where several of her relatives reside. Farmer's wife Bridgette at the main farm and the Sculptor Albert Blumington at the Peel house are both siblings of Bonita's mom. And of course Bonita's older sister Rebecka lives up there too, married to LaShawn G. Gladiston.

Over at 4 Greench Farm they were already up, obviously having some disagreement.

Then they heard Bonita Black outside...

It's not hard to understand that the entire island was turned upside down this morning. They had only heard about the other world, and now there was someone visiting them from... that other place. Everything had to change dramatically, one way or the other.

A short while later, many of the islanders had gathered at the café at 2 Yvonne Drive. The captain and his men were there too, and it turned out they knew more about this island than one could expect.

So, the island's correct name is Magna. It's located in a heavily volcanic area, and lately the activity had increased and the Government expected serious damage to be done. The situation was indeed serious.

Although the café was packed, not all of the residents had attended the meeting. A few households were not even represented, including Randal Redward's house.

Only a few of the residents owned a watch, but none of those old instruments were functional. Therefore, the time references were no longer AM and PM, but simply dawn, fall, midday and midnight.

Captain Turmington's ship wasn't a huge one, he wasn't even sure that they could all be rescued in one go. Perhaps he would need to make two transports, or send another boat for the last group? The ship was too big to navigate close up to land though, so they had launched a lifeboat to be used as a transit boat.

The seventh day of the week had been their traditional get together event for a very long time. Today everything was set up at the village square. Constance had been the organizer for as long as she could remember. Of course being rescued would be the best community event they could ever wish for, but if they could do both...

Captain Turmington was a patient man, but now he thought he had waited long enough. This little community got to have leaders, he could not communicate with each and everyone for the rest of this operation!

As mentioned, a few households had not attended the café. Alfonso Blumington had not even heard about the rescue yet! He is the poor fisherman, and after his very old mom Bianca died, he lives all alone at 3 Blumington Road with 4 cats. He walked down to Sunrise Valley to sell fish, but found nobody at home. He would have been stupid if not taking advantage of that, digging into their garbage.

If he only found something he could use, it was all worth the walk. But no, he returned back home empty handed. He realized he could not go on like this much longer. He was somehow bitter that he was the only one from his generation who was still stingle, there was no woman available to him. Not even someone he didn't like.

Lately he had thought of a silly way out of this. Agnes Hawk was a widow, although everyone said she was crazy, and he didn't like her that much, she was also living alone - with her two teen sons. But there was a catch, why would she want to leave her better house to live here in a shed up north? Agnes got some money, and Alfonso knew she even owned 10% of the bank stocks.

Talking of Agnes Hawk, she had been out walking this morning, and although her nephew and neighbour Reynar had tried to inform her about the ship, he never found her at home. Agnes was very depressed, missing Beetle way too much. Today she was on her way to the old Maccaroni Mine to look for him.

Smoke from the volcano filled the area, the sun simply couldn't get through. Wasn't the smoky carpet more heavy then ever? Agnes started the walk down into the dark mine.

Suddenly she noticed a floating shadow that she recognized...

For the first time Agnes noticed the wall of the mountain was a little darker right where the old fence stopped. Unfortunately the fence sort of blocked her way to Beetle, what if she ran and jumped over the old fence...?

She was too obsessed to even notice that she was not alone in the mine. Someone was walking up on her from behind...

A little later, Randal Redward finally reached the café. Both Randal and his horse Wild are top skilled, and the animal was now warm and sweaty, but happy. Why wasn't there a hitching post outside this bakery?

Randal entered the café and took it for granted that everyone had been awaiting his arrival.

He greeted the strangers and luckily he had just washed his hands. The white glove made Randal feel less superior, was it a warning?

Being rescued would certainly mean that Randal Redward would no longer be in charge of this little population. Back when his parents still lived, they kept talking about the great Redward family fortune, if it still exists Randal would of course accept a change.

Handling this all right could give Randal a good start in the other world. Impressing a captain might not be that important, but then again - who knows who the captain's contacts might be.

So, they agreed to walk over to the Village Hall, just Captain Turmington and his crew and the Village Council.

The final part of this chapter - the final chapter - will be up in a few days.

Week 13 Day 4: Teens are teens

Maccaroni Island's oldest resident, Bianca Blumington, is still going strong! Today she turns 127 simdays old. She is the only person from the original 4 couples who is still alive. Perhaps not alive and kicking, but up north she manages to go through the day, from cursing the Holy-Moly man, to feeding the cats.

Now that Bianca's granddaughter Graica Greench moved out to marry, she is left with her son, Alfonso Blumington, who is still single. This morning they went for a walk.

Bolan was Bianca's beloved hubby.

While Rita and Roger Redward, Yvonne and Yespar Yea-Low, as well as Greta and Gabriel Greench, all were resting near the mausoleum, Bolan Blumington was burried in the back of the graveyard.

Bianca does have plenty of grandchildren [Blumington family tree], but none of them will be Blumingtons by name.

And Alfonso walked up to the fishing pond in the mountain.

Today it was teens' day at school. Teens gather for education and skill building twice every week, and kids do gather twice as well.

Corinne Y. Redward is still stopping by a few hours most days to assist and inspire the young residents. But she had to admit it was getting harder now that the group of teens counts 13! The larger group, the bigger chance that some teen would not behave.

Gastor and Marvin Hamming are twins, sons of Constance R. Hamming, who is Randal Redward's sister, and Corinne's neighbours in the western region. Constance operates the local Consignment Store, and she is also the one with a dog named Cairo.

Gastor is Corinne's favorite pupil, while his twin brother Marvin is the opposite.

Ah, 12 teens in one room. Only the 13th, Amadeus Hawk, Agnes' oldest boy, is missing, but he never attend classes.

The right section pictured above is (from front) Yesador Yea-Low, Gastor Hamming, Marvin Hamming, Godrian Greench, Carla Black and Bonita Black.

The left section pictured below shows (from front) Richelle Yea-Low, Yvilla Redward (Corinne's daughter), Boletta Greench, Eileen Greench, Evita Hedgewall and Blanca Peel.

Boletta Greench, wearing a green jacket, found her cousin Marvin quite amusing, but they don't have much contact. She is not the one to step out of her comfort zone, she worries a lot that the boys hardly notice her. There isn't really many she could marry anyway, not related. Now she has a small hope that Yesador Yea-Low might like her. Boletta thinks he looks nice, and she knows he is sort of a loner, too. She was watching him all day without his knowledge.

Blanca Peel is a good girl, but Corinne knew she could also be quite a problem at times. Not as bad as Marvin Hamming, though.

Boletta Greench was hanging out with her sister Eileen and their cousin Blanca Peel. From there, Boletta could still see Yesador. He was busy discussing some subject with their teacher.

Dream on, boy...

Boletta isn't dedicated to farming, but she likes to help at the farm.

Yesador ea-Low was coming over...

Blanca had no idea she was just about to grab the only guy Boletta had a crush on.

That's called bad luck, Boletta...

After school, Gastor Hamming and Godrian Greench ran over to the graveyard. They wanted to find a good place for watching tonight's fireworks. Reynar Yea-Low had produced some fireworks, and nearly every night he planned sending them up over Maccaroni Mountain. It was done in the hope of making contact with the other world. Hopefully a ship would notice.

But the island is full of trees, and the top of the mountain can't be seen from just anywhere.

In fact they could not see the top. They would need to move farther away from the mountain.

Next to Greench Farm there is a smaller hill top, with sparse vegetation, only. The farmers of the southern region call it Sugar top.

Suddenly they got aware of a crying voice...

What did she just say, what was a set up? Anyone who followed this story from the beginning will recall how the young and naive Bianca trusted that her hubby had arrange nearly everything that happened, even the storm that brought them to the little island. Godrian and Gastor had naturally no such knowledge of the past.

The boys walked over to the Sugar top.

At 4 Greench Farm, Carie was out working the café, Albert was looking after the kids, and Blanca was busy with her homework. Today's subject had inspired her. Becoming a bartender would be nice, but maybe there was also other ways to make money that she had not yet thought of.

Blanca was excited for the date with Yesador Yea-Low. He is a good looking guy, a little too red perhaps, but who cares about skin colour anyway. Blanca's cousin Yophiel Hedgewall was bright green!

Gabriella is sort of caught in the middle, between her older sister Blanca who has begun controlling her own life, and the toddler Gerda, who gets all the attention from mom and dad. Maybe life will be more fun when Gerda grows up?

Still in the southern region, it's time to stop by at Cody and Rosanne's place, at 11 Rounder Lane. On the picture below, the Sugar top is seen to the right, while the main mountain is located to the left, just outside the picture.

Rosanne was looking for her husband. They just had a son, Rafael, and Rosanne being the snob she is, spends much time trying to improve their humble home.

According to Law and to traditions, a child moving out is entitled to its heritage shortly after moving out. But we all know that Randal Redward's universe is a little different...

Rosanne walked over to Redward Ranch. She moved out just a few simdays ago, but it felt like much longer. There was a new horse she had never met, and the path was decorated with new plants from Cody's production.

Randal Redward, Rosanne's Father, was at home.

Randal's problem is to find a way to secure the family heir. Yamir was not very interested in taking over the ranch, and Yvilla was simply not tough enough to bring on the Redward family standards. Randal had no intention of giving out parts of the assets until he knew who the main hair would be.

Up north, at 4 Black Heights, Bella Black was busy painting, while Bonita and Carla snuck out.

Seems like most of the teens planned to watch the fireworks. Not a lot is happening on the island that could interest them, so the first attempt to shoot up fireworks from the mountain, sure was a major event.

It had started! But the first firework turned out to be just a vague poof of smoke. But then...

Now, would it be noticed from a distance? The lights hangiing on the sky for a few seconds, would it be enough to grab a ship captain's attention? Or was it just a shot in the dark?

More in a short week!
