I like this peaceful picture from the beach. The stars, the waves, the shadows in the sand, the distance. Nice!
And it turned out to be a good day!
Now that the others are away, who will control the content of those crates, if not Roger and Rita? Roger wouldn't mind some hard work right away, but he'd prefer athletic sports.
When Roger turned, he noticed Gabriel on the beach. Why was the farmer digging through a pile of trash?
Then Roger checked that Rita was still asleep, and jogged alone up to the top of the island. While jogging, he realized they would all need more stuff, and a business idea started spinning. He should start a consignment store on the beach! If they produced something, he could help them sell it! Not a lot of customers on this island, but he would know their needs from day to day. And he would also know what items that could be overpriced...
Soon he arrived on he island's highest point. Today the fog was gone, and he could see the north...
He ran back to Rita as fast as he could... he needed to share the news! Or wait, maybe it was wiser to keep quiet for now? No, he had to tell someone about this great discovery!
He told Rita about the island to the north. It was much much bigger, and if there was a way to get over to it, they really should. It was pretty far away, and they didn't have a boat. How could they possibly get there?
At noon some of the others came to the beach, they all walked west to build a shelter for Rita and Roger. It was hard not telling the others about the other island, but Roger and Rita had agreed on keeping it a secret at least until tomorrow. Otherwise there might not have been built a shelter for them today.
But would Yespar keep it a secret? If his wife Yvonne got to know, everyone would know about the island in no time.
Roger realized that it might become harder to move to the other island with a baby. The Greench couple already had twins, and for all he knew the other couples might be having babies soon, too. But shouldn't he rather save those practical thoughts for later? What should have been pure happiness in the Redward hut, now turned out to be a quarrel...
Keep dreaming, Roger! You are involved in this project, and nobody will come to your rescue! Rita is onto something, they had not seen one single ship in a full week! This can't be a busy route...
Roger felt restless. He was tired too, and wouldn't mind joining his wife in the bed they had built earlier today. But instead he walked down to the beach, the hut was nearly empty now. He regret that he didn't hug Rita when she announced the pregnancy.
He roasted a fish, thought about the other island. He imagined how he could start a beach shop in this hut. Even if they found a way to move to the larger island, it would take some time, and they will all need stuff. The only problem he saw was that none of them had money. How could they pay him for the items he would want to sell them? Should he leave the beach shop to Rita, and rather focus on establishing some sort of a bank keeping track on everyone's debts? They would need some community system, it would make everything easier even in a simple place like this.
Then he walked back to their new shelter.
