Welcome to SimBasic - a community legacy!

What happened next? Find out in the Greench Farm legacy!

4 couples stranded and founded a new community on Maccaroni Island. Currently the 3rd generation is about to start new families! This is a Sims3 community legacy that has been updated frequently for a full year, and contains about 100 chapters! Late July 2012 it came to an end and a new spin-off legacy focusing on just one of these households will bring the story forward, starting August 15, 2012.

The very first post is here, or use the Blog Archive to look back. Posts describing the project are tagged *. Please see the interactive map for household bios and family trees. Comments are welcome both here on the blog and on the SimBasic thread at the thesims3 forum. Even if there won't be more updates, I will still read your commnts.

I hope you will enjoy the read! :-)

A quick stop & a question

Hi there, SimBasic reader! :-)

Thank you for reading about the Maccaroni population building up a small town from those 4 couples who stranded long ago. We're currently on Week 11 Day 2, meaning a total of 79 regular chapters! Some pretty big drama is coming up next!

I know there are many readers most of the time, although not so many of you leave a comment - and that's all fine. But I also know that long stories get a tad boring in the long run, and that's where I'm right now. I'm still very eager to complete the SimBasic project until it closes this Summer, but how about you?

I'd appreciate very much to know a little about what you find interesting, what you would like to se more of. Do you prefer to read about situations with a stronger focus on a few individuals? Or do you prefer the community aspects? Should there be more focus on "careers", everyday living in the homes, personalities? More about kids or teens? Do you want more plots, drama and mysteries?

I feel knowing a bit more about these things would help me moving the story in a good direction, and also to make its follow-up blog (legacy based on SimBasic) more interesting.

You can post either on the blog or on the TheSims3 forum. Thank you! :-)

  3. Hm... is Blogspot acting weird? Had to submit the comment 3 times before it got through... I turned word protection off because I find it annoying on other blogs, but maybe some weird setting took its place? Let me know, if so :D

  4. I love it the way it is too! I am curious about the author though. Where do you live? What do you do? What's your first language? There are little hints in the way you write and the things you write about and I totally want to know!

    1. Hi, how funny that you are curious... :D I'm not part of the story, so there won't me much about me. My native language is Norwegian, I fancy yellow, and I never lived on an island - and that's about all you'll get to know at this time :D.

  5. I'm still really enjoying it and like what you are doing currently. I do wish we could get down to gets going on with the quake and beetle which I think may be connected, and as well just that whole beetle Agnes storyline, it's just not sure what's going there and how it all ties in with the beetles from the beginning. But it's the mystery that keeps people or myself anyway coming back too, so I guess that's good too.

  6. I have really been enjoying it the way it is, too. It's been a while since there's been any romance, but that's a little circumstantial since the 3rd gen is still so young and there aren't many singles in the 2nd gen (although I am curious about Corinne and Cody, if there's soemthing there.) That extra bit of drama might make it feel kind of like a soap opera, but it's fun. =)

Honestly, I don't think we'd mind it if you left it as-is, but adding a little extra 'stuff' here and there would be fun, too.

  7. Thank you all :D It's good to read your thoughts and suggestions, and great knowing you are around :D There's some big changes on the island now, I'm not really sure where the discovery will take them, but I've planned even bigger changes in a short while. More about Agnes/Beetle, Corinne/Cody, beetles, community, maybe it would be time to upgrade some of the homes, too. Just a bit less primitive.

  8. I love the community aspects, and the animals. I wish we can see more about them. And I love plots too (like the Redwards wanting to rule the island). My biggest concern is that the story is bond to stop at a point. I wish you'd continue it after your main goal.

  9. Thanks gab75 :D The story and location WILL continue after Summer 2012, but then it will be told only through one of the households - my future legacy. I still don't know which house that will be though. The reason for this is that from next generation there might be more than 20 households, and it would be too tedious for me to handle them all, and for readers to keep track on who is who.
