Welcome to SimBasic - a community legacy!

What happened next? Find out in the Greench Farm legacy!

4 couples stranded and founded a new community on Maccaroni Island. Currently the 3rd generation is about to start new families! This is a Sims3 community legacy that has been updated frequently for a full year, and contains about 100 chapters! Late July 2012 it came to an end and a new spin-off legacy focusing on just one of these households will bring the story forward, starting August 15, 2012.

The very first post is here, or use the Blog Archive to look back. Posts describing the project are tagged *. Please see the interactive map for household bios and family trees. Comments are welcome both here on the blog and on the SimBasic thread at the thesims3 forum. Even if there won't be more updates, I will still read your commnts.

Week 10 Day 5: Christopher's revenge

Sorry for the delay, and it might happen again :-)

The Favourite female character POLL was closed, and Bella B. Black had most votes! Now - how about the male characters? Please vote for your favourite in the poll!

Yestersimday Agnes Y. Jones told her sister-in-law Dorothy that she was expecting Joe Hawk's child. It's a lie, but Agnes wants to keep Beetle secret - she just isn't sure that anyone can actually see him, or if he's like he used to be - visible only to her. Anyway, she realized that she had to involve Joe Hawk, and this morning she also had to involve Beetle!

It's early morning at 4 Yea-Low Ring.

Agnes had to invite Joe Hawk over and somehow make him believe they did make a baby - of course without woohoo. If they could make the old man pass out, they could convince him to believe anything afterwards. Beetle had seen a bottle with a mild poison at the Greench Market, probably intended for protecting plants. It would not be very harmful to a Joe Hawk, but hopefully he could pass out from drinking it.

Agnes will be one of the 3 judges at today's trial - Christopher Black's revenge.

Over at 4 Greench Farm Carie G. Peel found Albert Blumington having his quick breakfast. Their daughter Blanca is doing fine, but the all over feeling in the Peel home is still that something needs to be sorted out.

Carie loves cooking, but she hates cleaning the dishes. When Albert just leaves his plate on the table, she can get really upset, but she counts to ten... and then, eventually her mom Greta Greench will clean the table.

A little later Greta and Gabriel were eating too. Carie informed them on her plans for the day.

Greta tried to be a little tougher than she used to be, she realized that Carie and Albert needed to take on some more responsibility. Gabriel and Greta had discussed quietly whether they should move over to their son LaShawn instead, he lives alone and is more in need of financial help. But, Greta just isn't a tough person...

Jess G. Hamming is Carie's brother, residing at Redward Heights.

Carie ran over to the new bakery. It's located at 2 Yvonne Drive, vis á vis the Health Center and near the Village Hall - in fact pretty close to anything in their little village.

The build was erected yestersimday, it was rather primitive, but Carie liked it that way because if the value was kept down, she might be able to buy it. At the time she can't afford it though, and will just help getting it running for a small pay.

Carie wanted the bakery to also serve as a coffee shop. She had noticed that some bistro guests sat down to talk and wasn't very interested in the food. The bakery could be a place for locals who just wanted a quick stop, or who wanted to have some coffee while waiting for their bread order.

There were only two small tables, but also a table outdoors. The facilities could easily be improved in the future. The place had no kitchen yet, Carie had to decide whether doing the cooking here or simply preparing most of the food at home, like they always did for the Bistro.

Carie made herself a cup of coffee, 200 cups had been found in a crate on the beach some time ago, probably from a ship's storage. Greench Market had sold coffee for ages, produced at the Greench Farm. They also grew some corns, giving flour for baking. But maybe Carie would need to grow corns herself, to secure the resource?

She knew she could sit there for one more hour, then she had to go home. She was a little worried that the little bakery already was more interesting than her own little family. But you simply can't deal with everything at once...

Let's check on Agnes! She found Joe at the graveyard and invited him home for a talk. Beetle had arranged the little black bottle, Agnes had mixed it with Joe's coffee. Her cup was empty, she would just pretend drinking and hoped Joe wouldn't notice.

Oh oh...

Well, we'll leave them alone, but in short, Joe drank his coffee, he got dizzy and Agnes helped him into the bedroom and into Beetle's bed just before Joe passed out. He wasn't gone for long, and when he woke up Agnes made sure to convince him they did have a good time. He quickly recovered, and was thrilled when Agnes a couple hours later announced that she thought she might be pregnant with his child!

Over at 11 Rounder Lane, southern region, Albert Blumington was visiting Cody G. Major. Cody has been busily growing his plants, but he also keeps one - no wait; three dogs.

The puppies are just too cute running around in Cody's little house. They are Cairo's grandchildren, but there obviously were other wild breeds blended in along the way.

Awww...

Cody appreciated the company, although he is too busy with his garden to pay full attention to the puppies. And he can't keep them all. Right now he had a quick lunch before heading over to the House of Law.

Cody will be the head of the judges today!

The trial was coming up at the House of Law! Finally Christopher was getting paid for his hard work in the name of justice. He hated it when he felt a bit greedy and grumpy like his brother Randal Redward, but he was the one accusing, he had the right to be angry.

It seems like the system of judges works pretty well. There are 4 elected judges, one from each region, plus the Village Council being the 5th judge. For the trial the perfect number of judges is 3, then they will always get a 3 to 0 or 2 to 1 result. Never an equal split. If they have a 1 to 1 to 1 result, meaning they can't land a conclusion, the case will need to be passed to the Village Council, eventually also involving the 4th elected judge.

For this round, Constance R. Hamming was found inhabile, simply because she was sitting on the bench of those being accused. Alfonso Blumington was found habile although his sister Bella is married to Christopher Black, Cody G. Major was found habile although his brother Jess is married to the accused Constance R. Hamming, and Agnes Y. Jones was found habile although her brother Alex is married to the accused Dorothy R. Yea-Low, and her sister Corinne is married to the accused Randal Redward. If being siblings-in-law should stop the judges, it would simply not be possible to find neutral judges on Maccaroni Island.

Joe, who insisted on coming with Agnes, took the word. He obviously misunderstood his role...

For new readers; when Christopher ran away from home to be with the poor fisherman daughter Bella, a couple simweeks ago, his parents turned him down.

Actually, the break dragged out to 30 minutes, it was obvious that the judges being locked off in the office did not agree.

Meanwhile old Joe made sure to tell everyone that he was going to become a dad!

Finally, office door opened, and the three judges got seated. Everyone found their places, eagerly awaiting the verdict.

This means that Christopher Black is not having 1/4 of the Redward possessions, like he hoped for, but that he will get 1/7. Randal, Dorothy and Constance will each need to transfer values of 1/3 of his claim within tomorrow. In clear numbers, Randal Redward, Dorothy R. Yea-Low and Constance R. Hamming each had to pay Christopher Black §5.597. If they don't have the cash, they can transfer ownership to land.

Oh, and in that office, it became clear that Alfonso wanted Christopher to fully win the case, while Agnes was more restricted, and Cody was supporting Alfonso but the one stating that the law's right  to complain within 7 days, didn't mean that the full law could be used for conflicts of the past.

As soon as the case was closed, Joe rushed over to Agnes.

The wedding took place at the Theatre. Beatrice Greench married to Yoseph Y. Hedgewall. Most locals thought it was on time! The couple had resided together since long, and most did not know that Beatrice had saved herself all along, sleeping on the coach, even debating to move out. This wasn't really a romance, like Beatrice imagined a romance would be, but they both accepted that for the community they had to reproduce, and it certainly could have been worse.

Beatrice didn't want a huge wedding like this, and farmers rarely spent their money on such events, but Yoseph coming from the Yea-Low family, insisted that Yea-Lows do marry with style!

To Greta Greench this was a very special day. Both she and Gabriel are now 106, she actually didn't expect to see her twin daughters married. Seeing Beatrice accepting marriage meant a lot to the caring old woman.

The groom's sister, Corinne Y. Redward was late for the wedding. She had finally got her dead mom's old glasses, and although they were of great help, she still got a headache. After the trial she had to sit down to relax.

At the wedding arena she noticed the young gardener, Cody Major, and suddenly she forgot all about her younger brother getting married...

Then, to everyone's surprise, the ceremony was interrupted. As soon as Beatrice and Yoseph were married, Joe Hawk jumped onto stage...

Agnes was taken by surprise. She never really intended marrying this old and weird man! But could she protest? Expecting "his" child, knowing he had informed most of the attendees at the House of Law? She could pull a joke, maybe insulting Joe in front of everyone could actually put an end to these lies...

Agnes turned in... the guests were still in some state of shock, not that they would mind, Joe Hawk was one of them, and Agnes certainly needed a man. It was just that most of them had expected that she would marry one of the single men from her own generation; LaShawn Greench, Alfonso Blumington or Cody G. Major.

Agnes was confused, too. She should have stopped it! Joe couldn't move in with her! And she had no plans of living in his shed!

But Joe was happiest as could be - he finally tied the knot with his Emmy!

What would Beetle say now!

Maybe we will find out in about 4 days :-)

Week 10 Day 4: A surprise

A quick look back... Yestersimday, as soon as the trial was set, Christopher took the opportunity to announce his claim, while everyone were still gathered in the House of Law. Although his siblings didn't make the heirloom sharing official until 6 simdays ago, it was 7 simdays since Roger Redward died and Randal, Dorothy and Constance actually shared his belongings...

Everybody were quiet, Christopher gave them a very brief summary of what happened 7 simdays ago.

Randal Redward got aggressive, while his sister Dorothy R. Yea-Low looked rather shocked. Constance R. Hamming, who was one of the judges, looked more like "what did I tell you back then?". She didn't seem surprised at all.

The trial will need to be handled no matter what Randal means. The case will be on in 2 simdays.

After this quick back flash, it's another beautiful day on Maccaroni Island! At 9 Yea-Low Ring, Alfonso Blumington was visiting the Yea-Low household to beg for help.

Alfonso's brother Albert had just turned town the partnership offer, too. It was too expensive, as Alfonso actually had to pay §14.000 to the bank - today.

So, the new head of the rather honest Yea-Low family had a plan, or?

Over at 6 Redward Heights, Randal was busily taking care of the horses. Oldest child, Yamir, has grown up and is now a teen. His traits so far are Athletic, Insane, Coward and Star quality. Corinne was still worried about their house. Randal's horse ranch hardly brought in any money. She had suggested once that they could move over to Randal's parent's vacant house across the road, because it's a little bigger. But Randal was not interested.

Corinne realized that this didn't look good at all. Although she thought it was fair by Christopher to claim his share, she would not speak to anyone about it. If he lost the case, well they would be doing much better here on the ranch.

Corinne sighed. She had her hands full with little Yvilla and the house, and she also tended the small garden next to their house. She left, and she was rather disappointed.

On the opposite side of Maccaroni Island, at 5 Sunrise Valley, Beatrice had started to produce clothes. Every other day she would walk up to the Consignment store to deliver a few outfits. Her mom, Greta Greench, had tought her the easier ways to make fabrics, and she also had a deal with the Consignment store, that any fabrics found along the shoreline should be delivered to Beatrice.

Today Beatrice and Yoseph had a conversation. They had lived together for a while, but so far Beatrice had slept on the coach.

Meanwhile Christopher was alone fishing in the frog pond near the graveyard (seen right in the background).

He was pretty relaxed about the trial, but he knew there were a few small chances the judges could refuse his claim. Like, maybe they would accept how his parents cut him off, even if there wasn't a written testament back then, neither there was a law saying there should have been a written testament. Or maybe they would just decide that if Christopher got his fair share, 3 other families would suffer financially, and it would harm their community.

It was all silent. Then there was a sound behind him... It sounded like if someone stepped on a twig, but he saw nobody...

Back at 9 Yea-Low Ring, Agnes Y. Jones had stopped by to talk with her dad, Yespar Yea-Low. Her cell phone did no longer work... Back whan the settlers stranded, the phones hardly worked within short distances, then Yespar built a system that made the phones work rather well within the island. Now there were problems, though.

Suddenly Agnes decided to leave, and she rushed out of the house in a hurry! Dorothy, working with health, got suspicious and followed Agnes outside...

Agnes realized she would need to come up with a story, quickly! She didn't really remember woohoo'ing with Beetle, it must have happened last night. She had to cover up, somehow, she didn't want anyone to know about Beetle...

... uhmmm...

So how will you solve this, Agnes?

Agnes knew where to find Joe Hawk, the old man who obviously found her attractive. He was still residing at the graveyard. And he was very pleased to see her.

Agnes explained that she might want to marry him, but that he could not move in with her until tomorrow. She would need to come up with a plan very quickly, tricking him into believing they actually woohoo'ed, or he would not accept being the father to the baby that she would soon give birth to. And how will Beetle react to the plan?

Joe had called her Emmy before. Emmy was his girlfriend of the past, extremely long ago...

Just before this rather disturbing event ends this chapter, a quick note that Beatrice and Yoseph spent the night watching stars, and talking about how they could make the best out of everything. They agreed to marry tomorrow, and tonight Beatrice accepted to sleep in Yoseph's bed.

Lots more in about 3 days :-)
