Welcome to SimBasic - a community legacy!

What happened next? Find out in the Greench Farm legacy!

4 couples stranded and founded a new community on Maccaroni Island. Currently the 3rd generation is about to start new families! This is a Sims3 community legacy that has been updated frequently for a full year, and contains about 100 chapters! Late July 2012 it came to an end and a new spin-off legacy focusing on just one of these households will bring the story forward, starting August 15, 2012.

The very first post is here, or use the Blog Archive to look back. Posts describing the project are tagged *. Please see the interactive map for household bios and family trees. Comments are welcome both here on the blog and on the SimBasic thread at the thesims3 forum. Even if there won't be more updates, I will still read your commnts.

Find all my stories and Sims projects gathered at my blog, Simmerville's Sims :)

I hope you will enjoy the read! :-)

Week 7 Day 5: Land sharing

Yvonne Yea-Low has been very central in most community matters. She has organized the community planning, she has assisted children and teens at the school library, and she is also maintaining the bank transfers and loans. It sounds like more than a full time job, especially to a person who would rather sit down to read her favourite books.

At the moment there are no children on the island, so the school is not that time consuming. A few teens might stop by to play chess or to read a little, but most of them are busily helping their family to raise funds, by gardening or collecting. It's just not a good time for a formal education.

Constance Redward is in her late teens, and still has no clue to what kind of job she will aim at. She used to collect gems to pay her older brother Randal, but now that the family knows about her dog Cairo, there is no longer a need for carrying rocks from all over the island. In a normal community, Constance might have been a homestaying mom, but on the island everyone needs to contribute in some way. Maybe she could replace Yvonne as a teacher?

Randal Redward tamed the horse Bliss already, but needs to tame a stallion in order to produce new horses for sale. He might both sell foals and more tamed adult horses, though, the point is to make a living. His latest idea is to tame the black and white sleeping wild horse, and he's almost there!

Then the "cave man" Joe Hawk, walked by. He was on his way to Redward Heights, nearby.

Of course! Bliss already knew the other wild horse pretty well, and had no problem communicating with her old friend!

A little later Randal went home to the little ranch, mostly to eat. Corinne is pregnant, Randal really wished he was already having a working ranch, but like things were, he had to spend most of the day away from home.

Randal and Corinne got some nice presents for their wedding, and they both come from the wealthier families, so they took up just a small bank loan when getting established. Corinne didn't quite see how a few grapes could make much of a difference to their economy.

Over at the Village administration house, the land sharing meeting was about to start. The head of all the four main families had been invited.

Suddenly the door opened, and in walked Joe Hawk, the man who they found not very long ago.

The deal was set. They looked further on Yvonne's detailed plan and lot values, and then each family head assigned each lot to the heirs. The point was to have one personal owner to every lot that was not owned by the bank. More details are posted further down in this chapter.

It was late at night, Corinne Y. Redward was alone when giving birth to a son, named Yamir. He got his dad's red skin, and probably his temper as well, as he was crying a lot. Corinne knew there was no point in calling her mom for advice, because Yvonne wasn't really clever with babies.

Ah, he was hungry! Some milk calmed down Yamir, and hopefully that was all there was to it...

The very same moment, Randal and Bliss had finally succeeded befriending the wild horse. It was named Grant. Randal mounted, and headed back to the ranch.

He was thrilled about his idea. He knew that the Greench farmer had been trying to befriend this very same horse, meaning it should be easy to sell it to a pretty good price! Will the Greench farmer be willing to pay §3000 to get his friend back? Maybe even more?

Hopefully Bliss and Grant will make a foal pretty fast, it would be very good for business if Grant could both reproduce and being sold!

To be continued in 2 days.

The following info on the land sharing isn't really a part of this chapter, I put it here merely for the record (and because I love details!), seeing it as a no-read to most.

Basically the Redward family got the western region, Yea-Low family got the eastern region, Greench family got the southern region and the Blumingtons got the northern region. Joe Hawk got a total of 5 lots west and central. Accepted values were 4 x §30.000 and 1 x §10.000. 1. Wow, the Blumington's didn't do too bad with the lot division. I think it's funny that Joe Hawk is so adament to marry one of the Redward girls, too! I wonder now that Christopher and Bella are "rooming" together if any sparks ignite between them? And seeing Greta as a happy gramma is awesome. =) I can't wait for the next update!

  2. Hi Mietze! Yes, the Blumingtons got a good amount of lots, but most of them are small, and comes with no vegetation to cut/sell. All got the same total value, but it will be easier for the others to visit their property and "cash in the trees" if they get short of money.

It's a pretty interesting period right now, money wise. It's hard to help the last move-out kids with start money, and the bank will need to restrict loans, because it will not make sense if they can give loans for lots more than the deposits. This is something I didn't plan, but it seems like a natural community development. Cool! :D

  3. I totally agreed with Joe Hawk's rant...until he started mentioning the Redward girls. Let it go, man! It's obvious you're not going to get 'em. :P

Randal still gives me the willies. I always feel as if he's up to something sinister.

And so the first baby of the third generation is born! :) Wait, is that the first baby? I thought Bridgitte was pregnant before Corrine. Hmm, I might have to go back a few chapters and see if I missed anything...

I love seeing the town develop and who gets what. It makes the world livelier somehow.

  4. Hi mmmcheezy225! For the new generation's first baby, Archie and Bridgette had Graica. So, Corinne had her 1st and the generation's 2nd. There are more on the way, though, and more couples will be establishing their own home these days! I feel itæ's like a reward seeing them couple up :D But it will be hard to choose what houses to follow in the future. Will give a quick introduction to them all though, but will let some of them fade a bot into the background.

    Thanks for reading! :D
