Welcome to SimBasic - a community legacy!

What happened next? Find out in the Greench Farm legacy!

4 couples stranded and founded a new community on Maccaroni Island. Currently the 3rd generation is about to start new families! This is a Sims3 community legacy that has been updated frequently for a full year, and contains about 100 chapters! Late July 2012 it came to an end and a new spin-off legacy focusing on just one of these households will bring the story forward, starting August 15, 2012.

The very first post is here, or use the Blog Archive to look back. Posts describing the project are tagged *. Please see the interactive map for household bios and family trees. Comments are welcome both here on the blog and on the SimBasic thread at the thesims3 forum. Even if there won't be more updates, I will still read your commnts.

I hope you will enjoy the read! :-)

Week 6 Day 5: The Greench secret

Yesterday the Blumington family moved their house to a new address, up north. They now reside at 3 Blumington Road, and this is the place they dreamed of for nearly a generation.

The house is expanded, and they painted the main room pale blue. Unfortunately there wasn't enough funds for electricity, but hopefully they won't need to wait long.

Bianca and Bolan love this place for its view, the fresh breeze from the ocean, and they don't worry a lot that the soil seems less fertile up here. Farther north the ground is darker, and lots of dead trees proves that this is not farmland. The chilly wind from north-east doesn't help either.

They will grow just a little, mostly to give the kids a chance to learn the skill. Because the Blumingtons always focused more on fishing.

Not far from their house, the farmer Gabriel Greench was looking for the wild horse he tries to befriend, and that hopefully will live at Greench Farm some day.

The wild horses often stay on this spot. This morning Gabriel found something interesting - carrots! The horses must have dug them up from the ground. They had no carrots at Greench Farm, Gabriel will definitely grow some to feed a future horse. He found two, but when he finally found his horse friend at Maccaroni Beach, he didn't hesitate to offer him one of the two.

They are finally going well along, but it might take a while untill Gabriel succeeds.

Today Bridgette had planned a visit to Archie Greench. He is the head of the new Greench Farm. Anyone at home?

So, they took a walk on the huge lot...

One hour later the cake was served. Greta learned to bake it when they harvested their first lime tree not long ago.

Bridgette felt a bit alone, but isn't most parties like that in the start? She knew both Archie's parents from earlier, but had not seen them often.

This is probably the only job currently available on the island. It was quite an offer!

Greta had wanted to tell Bridgette ever since she broke up with Archie when they were still teens. But how will Bridgette handle news like this?

Meanwhile, Bolan, Albert and Alfonso were out fishing. Well, they were supposed to be fishing, but something came in their way, so to speak...

Albert (in blue) is the oldest, he will turn teen in a couple days. Alfonso just reached childhood. Albert tried to catch the turtle, but bad bad bad luck, the turtle got away!!! Better luck next time, the super fast turtle looked  like a pretty cool pet!

Bridgette was back home, chatting with mom, Bianca, in the kitchen before going to bed.

The household desperately needs funds. It will actually be a dilemma if the only one getting a job, moves out...

To be continued in 2 days!

  1. Thanks figen! I enjoyed creating this one. I'm starting to think about what households to follow when all kids move out. Really can't keep a regular eye on more than 4 houses...

  2. I feel like Bianca is freaking out a little bit too much here, he didn't propose, and she didn't say no anyway, she said slow down one thing at a time, so the freak out doesn't make sense, not too mention her telling her she wasted a chance of a lifetime doesn't help the situation at all. Nor does she consider if Bridgette would want to marry Archie or not.

  3. Hi, Anoua :-) Thanks for your honest feedback that is very valuable to me! It's the most difficult part, to balance where do the story goes too detailed and how much should be repeated. After all, I don't expect all readers to read every single chapter, but some do. On my side of the table, I know all the minor events plus I even have a feeling what the characters might be thinking from watching them in situations that were never posted. So, I definitely need more practice in passing on the exact amount of info needed to make more sense.

I can easily see your point that Bianca is overdoing her thing at the end of this chapter. I should have toned it down a few levels, dropped the last statement or worded it slightly differently. But I do think the way Bridgette informs Bianca, shows that they have talked about B and Archie earlier. Bridgette is quite eager to tell her mom. Bianca obviously knows about the couple's history as they've been together since they were kids, just had a break. When she broke up with him it was not because of him but because she decided not to have any (possible) alien kids. Then he was a teen, now she is adult. Flowers were delivered each day since Bridgette's birthday, Bianca and Bridgette talked about those flowers 2 chapters ago and I stated that she thought she knew who delivered them. So, I think Bianca might have a strong feeling about Bridgette being interesting in Archie - and that a marriage would be rather expected in such a small community.

Oh - I almost wrote a full chapter, LOL. Thanks for inspiration :-)

  4. Thanks for the reply. :) Just a note though, me thinking Bianca over reacting isn't necessarily bad, I do think it could have toned down a little, but I'm voicing my opinion on how the character acts here, not on whether I think the character was well written. Hopefully that makes sense.

But yeah I see your point, I still think her approach was bad, as it was very negative toward her daughter instead of working through it. But I guess that just means Bianca and I would have different parenting styles maybe.

And I can see marriage being expected somewhat. It's just in my culture asking someone to live with you, isn't related to marriage (necessarily), many just live together without the commitment. So I don't see him asking that as a step towards marriage at all, but disrespectful (I consider it disrespectful to live each other to live together not married), so that would be why I didn't see it that way. But I can understand that he was leading that way then. Anyway thanks for the reply again, :)
