Welcome to SimBasic - a community legacy!

What happened next? Find out in the Greench Farm legacy!

4 couples stranded and founded a new community on Maccaroni Island. Currently the 3rd generation is about to start new families! This is a Sims3 community legacy that has been updated frequently for a full year, and contains about 100 chapters! Late July 2012 it came to an end and a new spin-off legacy focusing on just one of these households will bring the story forward, starting August 15, 2012.

The very first post is here, or use the Blog Archive to look back. Posts describing the project are tagged *. Please see the interactive map for household bios and family trees. Comments are welcome both here on the blog and on the SimBasic thread at the thesims3 forum. Even if there won't be more updates, I will still read your commnts.

Find all my stories and Sims projects gathered at my blog, Simmerville's Sims :)

I hope you will enjoy the read! :-)

Week 2 Day 6: The Swimmer

It's the big day! Today Roger plans to swim over to the other land, the Holy Moly Maccaroni land.

They are still asleep, it's only 3 AM, and Roger will secretly meet Yespar at 6 AM. Then they will have one hour to arrange everything. I love to watch sims dreaming. There's not much doubt of Rita and Roger's dreams, she feels stuck in this stable, while he feels like a champion. Money and strength. Speech power and - body power. And eventually, there is just Rita...
Roger was very excited this morning, sneaking out early. But he also worked hard to ignore all doubts. It wasn't a good time for asking himself questions like - should I really do this? Will I make it?

No - just do it, man!

So, with the package of his clothes and a few important tools tied onto his back, Roger jumped into the surprisingly chilly water, and started to swim. Little by little, facing the other land, feeling the stream, trying to navigate wisely. He became a smaller and smaller spot in the sea, and after a while Yespar could no longer see him.

Rita woke up to a normal day, she thought. Checking on the kids. She felt a little stuck in there with two small kids, depending on her. She could not leave home, because there were none to babysit.

And now, the "hundred weird faces of Randal Redward". He looks a bit... different, doesn't he? Should anyone worry?
The worst about being stuck here, was that the only shower and toilet is on the beach. Not so practical when you can't leave home...
Rita and Yvonne might have some attitude in common, but they also do their best to avoid any tight ties. I have no idea why... Because they are both married, there shouldn't be much reason to be rivals.

Rita got to do something, but Rita - if you need a shower, gardening won't help a bit...

Rita tried to stay quiet. Not calling Yvonne to check. So not calling Gabriel Greench to check.

Yespar was with Yvonne. At least he was a few hours later, when it got dark. In a short while Roger would send some signal - if he had made it to the other land.
Yespar walked up to the top of the island. He hesitated to look over the top, because he knew there was a certain chance he would never see a bonfire in the distance. He intended to sit here for one hour, in case Roger's watch had stopped during the swim. Around 8 PM there would hopefully be a signal...

And there was! Yay! Well, I'm sorry I can't show you the bonfire in the distance, but the fire was there, and Yespar saw it! That's what counts right now! Waving wasn't needed though, because Roger wouldn't see that... I think.
Yespar hurried back, he had to tell Rita! She had no idea what was coming up! In a few days they might be crossing the sea on floats! Using the shelters - they might float - it would be the perfect way to bring the materials over to the Maccaroni land. A land that looked to be many many times bigger than this tiny island.
Rita was at home (surprise!), and Yespar was nearly too excited (and exhausted) to speak...

Rita suddenly felt depressed. Not so much because of Roger doing something stupid, but because he had done it without involving her! Right now it felt like there was an ocean between them. Oh, there actually was...
Yespar told her more about the plans. The floats. About Roger exploring the island for 24 hours. That Rita was supposed to run the beach store (without leaving home... bummer). And while Yespar was thrilled, Rita saw no hope in crossing the sea on a floating stable. The only thing that kept her hope up, was something Roger said long ago; he wanted to check the new land first to find the best area for them to settle.
So, what will happen the following day? I'm not quite sure, actually. Might depend on the weather...

To be continued in 2 days.
